The Registrar of Imported Vehicles (RIV) was created to establish and maintain a system of registration, inspection and certification to Canadian standards.
The Registrar of Imported Vehicles has contracted Harry’s Abbotsford Auto Pro to perform the required Federal (RIV) and Commercial/Provincial inspections. Serving Abbotsford for over 25 years.
What to do before you import
- Make sure your vehicle is admissible. For information on the importation of vehicles into Canada from countries other than the United States, go to www.riv.ca or call 1-888-848-8240.
- Contact the original equipment manufacturer or authorized dealer of your vehicle to obtain a recall clearance letter.
- At the border, have these documents ready: your title of vehicle registration and sales receipts. Complete Vehicle Import Form – Form 1, which Canada Border Services Agency will provide.
- After payment and the recall clearance documentation have been received, the Registrar of Imported Vehicles will forward you an inspection form by e-mail (if your e-mail address is on file),
